transmission2In our last blog post we found it fitting to bring up transmission repair and the inevitable fact that sometimes the repairs that need to be taken care of are beyond repair and require replacement. While the overall replacement is expensive, it’s inevitably necessary for you to replace your transmission in order for your car to run.

At Kearny Mesa Automotive and Transmission, we have a team of specialists that can help you determine whether or not it’s time for you to get a replacement transmission. In our last blog post we covered a few of the signs that are good cues to needing a new transmission. This week we are going to cover even more signs that it’s time for you to cave and get that replacement.

Strange Sounds

If your car is making strange sounds, it’s usually a bad sign. Regardless of if your car is an automatic or a manual transmission, if it is not working it will inevitably make some strange noises. Being aware of what your car sounds like is key to recognizing when these bigger repairs and replacements contribute to the strange sounds you’re hearing. If you’re hearing any grinding noises with your manual transmission or a buzzing noise with your automatic transmission, these strange sounds are a good indication of a transmission in need of replacement.

Delay in Movement

Transmissions make it so that switching gears is easy to do, so when your car is having a difficult time moving forward or delays in gear switch, it may be because your transmission is experiencing difficulties. If you notice that your car is a little jumping when transitioning gears or begins to delay when switching gears for a manual transition, visit a specialist immediately, because this could cause more damage to the rest of your car if it goes without maintenance.

There are plenty of other signs that your transmission is ready for a replacement. If you’re not entirely sure whether or not it’s time to get it replaced, it’s worth scheduling an appointment and having one of our transmission specialists check it out. Schedule an appointment by calling our office.
